New York Fashion Week has always been loud and proud, but this season designers have simplified the runway experience and let the clothes do the talking (every designer except Tommy Hilfiger who needed his own amusement park).

Marc Jacobs stripped the lights, the stage, the music, and even the phones in the hands of the audience away to showcase the simplicity and beauty of clothes. Ralph Lauren featured a small flowered archway for the models in silk blazers to walk under. Baja East dressed “regular people” in their clothes at a party for their runway show.

Tory Burch dug into her roots and featured luxe, simplistic prep-school outfits, inspired by her childhood. Even Kanye took it down about 10,000 notches from every other Yeezy Seasons. Season 5 displayed his designs delicately through a spotlight and humming background music.

This season designers have let there inspirations of old western movies, young teen culture and 80s frills speak to the audience and here are a few trends we noticed from the runways during NYFW A/W 2017.
