Running may perhaps have the worst reputation of any cardio exercise. Running can be a long, boring and tiresome activity. However, there are a few things that you can do to make it more enjoyable. Here are a few things that you can do to make your run less of a drag.

Change the scenery. A change of scenery can really boost your enthusiasm for running. Running on the same path will get boring very fast. Try running through the wilderness, a beautiful park, around a pond. A change of scenery is a great way to travel and explore new places while working out. As your body goes to new places, so will your mind. So take the scenic route.

Change your outfit. Cute running tanks with sassy sayings, bright colored or patterned leggings with matching sports bras will boost your energy for the run. A pair of new sneaks could also make your run better. After purchasing a new pair of running shoes, you will be eager to break them in on a run.

Make a playlist. It’s no secret that listening to music while running is beneficial. Get energized to your favorite songs and listen to an upbeat, party playlist. After all, your workout is your party!

Run in the sun. Instead of sunbathing, try sun-running! Some days are just perfect days for a run. Try going out and running on a beautiful sunny day. The atmosphere will be a mood booster as you bask in the glow of the sun.

Play a game. It may sound silly, but playing little games while you run will help boost a mundane workout. Try playing iSpy or focus on not stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk. Maybe try running backwards for 15 second intervals. Little mind games also keep you alert to your surroundings and keeps you from getting lost in your run.

Bring a friend. Everything is better with friends, right? Inviting a buddy to run with you is a great way to make your run more enjoyable. Running with a friend allows for great quality time and you’ll be having so much fun that you won’t be thinking about the exercise. And if you’re not a people person, that’s fine too because dogs make just as great workout partners.

Compete. In addition to running with a buddy, a little healthy competition can also make running a little more fun and motivating. Compete with your friend in a little race or to see who can go farther. If you like to run solo, compete with yourself. Push yourself to go a little faster or farther on each run.

Reward yourself. After a long, tiring run, don’t be afraid to reward yourself. Treat yourself with a yummy treat, a pedicure or even just a nice, hot shower. Keeping in mind that a reward is coming after your workout is great motivation for finishing out your run.

Next time you go for a run, try out one of these techniques for a little boost. It can make the difference in a run to the store or a run in a marathon.
