The inspiration to be healthy seems to dwindle at the end of the summer season as bikinis and daisy dukes are packed away. With the beginning of the Fall season, fitness motivation is replaced with the excitement of knit sweaters, Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Thanksgiving dinner.

Don’t let your fitness motivation go into hibernation this season. Here is some fitspiration to keep your health and fitness morale high in the Autumn season.

Use Fitness for A Cause. Autumn is the season of giving, and you can give to others while giving back to your body. Sign up to run in a Breast Cancer Awareness marathon or Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, where a part of the proceeds is donated to a worthy cause. You’ll be doing double duty supporting a charitable cause while getting in some great exercise.

Get A New Wardrobe. Every season has its own wardrobe, and fitness fashion should be no exception. Motivate yourself to hit the gym with cute workout tights, tracksuits and pullovers that will keep you warm and stylish throughout the Fall season. Some athletic brands even specialize in special performance apparel for cooler weather, like the Adidas Climaheat line.

Try Some New Recipes. Being healthy doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in all the delicious Fall foods (like pumpkin bread and sweet potato pie). Autumn is the perfect time to try some new healthy recipes with Fall veggies like spaghetti squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, and of course—pumpkins. There are a variety of healthy Fall recipes for stews, muffins and casseroles.

Tune In With Nature. Use the beautiful foliage of Fall to help you get in touch with nature, and yourself. Watch the leaves change colors while hiking, jogging or cycling, or catch the cool Autumn breeze while meditating or doing yoga in the park. You can also get some exercise in by participating in fall festivities like walking through a pumpkin patch, apple picking, or exploring a corn maze (especially if it’s haunted). The Autumn scenery and temperature is perfect for exploring the outdoors.

Challenge Yourself. Start (and finish) a 30-day Fall fitness challenge. Committing to a fitness regimen is a great way to stay active during the Autumn, and keep you in your best shape for the holiday season.
