The trend-setting, actresses singer, (good at everything) Disney channel star, Zendaya came out with her first clothing line. We couldn’t be more excited. This line features Zendaya’s personal street-style touch and stylist Law Roach’s flavor to bring you a line of clothes that are all under $200.
Not only has this line been introduced today online but also in three pop-up shops that will be open this weekend in New York, Chicago, and LA, that Zendaya herself will be at meeting fans. Zendaya is also coming out with a life-style app. It’s easy to say Zendaya is making moves not only in the fashion industry, the business world but also the movie business by staring in the new Spider-Man movie.
Through her clothing line Zendaya is also breaking the boundaries of size, and gender in fashion. In an interview with InStyle Zendaya stated, “I wanted to make sure that everyone felt included, felt like they were thought about in the making of this line. I didn’t want to alienate anybody. I wanted there to be a level of androgyny, because that’s what fashion is about—fashion should be much more involved than that.” As said on her Instagram, Daya by Zendaya is “all under $160, sizes ranging from 0-22 for all my beutiful bodies out there.”
Everything from a quilted kimono, a velvet green jumpsuit (that we must get our hands on), a satin slip, black maxi dress, an oversized, pink, satin bomber, lace up sweatpants, a wide leg vinyl trouser, features Zendaya’s personal street-chic style with a unique flare. (Vinyl trousers. Need we say more?)
“One thing Law and I really hate are trends,” she says in an interview with Vogue. “We don’t believe in what’s hot now because you can’t stay on top of all of the constant changes in fashion. “ She goes on to say, “Clothes are supposed to be emotional. There is no right or wrong, no singular style. I went through a phase as a teenager, and I think everyone does, when I actually gave a shit about what people thought. Ultimately I grew up and realized that was no fun.”
Zendaya’s ultimate goal for this line is to break the boundaries of trends, size and gender and fashion and make clothes that are versatile to make it your own. The touch of androgyny, the size range, and the uniqueness of each piece make this line one of a kind, groundbreaking and truly Zendaya.
